Ancho Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
12 pcs of dried chilies (ancho)
1 tsp of salt
2 c of water (boiling)
1 tsp of oregano (dried)
1 c of tomatoes; peeled, seeded, then chopped finely
3/4 tsp of cumin (ground)
1/4 tsp of turmeric
2 pcs of garlic cloves (medium); chopped finely
Instructions:
Remove the stem of chilies and their seeds under a cold (running) water then break them to 1-inch pieces and place on a bowl with (boiling) water. Let them soak for one hr. Strain them through the sieve and save the liquid.
Blend the strained chilies together with garlic, tomatoes, salt, cumin, turmeric, and oregano.
Pour the mixture onto a saucepan then add 1 cup of saved liquid; let it boil while constantly stirring. Lower down the heat then let it simmer for 10-15 mins till thick.
