Basic Red Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
1 tsp of salt
1 Tbsp of cumin seeds
1 Tbsp of dried oregano
8 ounces of tomato-sauce
1/4 c of veggie oil
2 cloves garlic; chopped
1/2 c of chopped onions
3 & 1/2 c of warmed water
8 Ancho-chiles
Instructions:
Cover the chiles w/ warmed water. Stand ’til softened for 30 mins. Drain, straining & reserving the liquid. Have chiles’ membranes & stems removed. Cook then add garlic & onions in saucepan ’til onions become tender.
Add 2 c reserved cooking liquid, chiles & rest of your ingredients. Boil then reduce the heat. Allow to simmer w/o cover for 20 mins. Cool.
Transfer mixture into processor bowl, cover & process ’til smoothened. Store covered inside your fridge for ten days.
