Marinara Sauce Recipe


Marinara Sauce Recipe

Ingredients:

1/2 c of oil (olive oil)
3 pcs of onions (medium); sliced thinly
2 pcs of celery (fresh); chopped finely
1 tsp of thyme
Salt & Pepper (to taste)
1 tsp of basil
1/8 tsp of sugar (refined)
1 tsp of oregano
1/4 lb of mushrooms (fresh); sliced thinly
1/2 c of tomato paste
1/3 c of wine (white, dry)
8 pcs of large tomatoes (ripe); stemmed then quartered

Instructions:

Heat oil on a skillet then add onions; saute gently for 10 minutes till translucent and tender.

Add herbs and celery; cook for 5 minutes then add the tomatoes, sugar, paste, salt, and pepper; stir them well. Let it boil then stir; let it simmer for 35 minutes, while stirring frequently.

Add wine and mushrooms; continue cooking for 15 to 20 minutes till sauce has thickened.
